My Story

Like most of us, Jake Willis spends many of his days battling the boredom bats that flap around inside his spacious noggin. A gooey thick layer of guano had nestled deep into the folds of his thought machine, clogging up the gears inside. What could Jake do to cure this unrelenting mind-malaise?! Sports were a no-go for this lazy cretin and books were too hard for his limited cranial capacity. Yet still, something had to be done to avoid the doldrum ducks from eating away at his crumbling brain-bread! A creative outlet was necessary to rid this ennui infestation that ran amuck inside his head. As a boy, an attempt to satiate the cranium critters began with simple doodles, then onward to drawings, which then led to sculpting, which then led to painting, then back again to doodles! He had gone full circle already and was still just a boy! What else could possibly be out there for him?! It felt like the mundane mind monkeys had won. However, as a teenager, an obsession of music seeped into his dimly lit dome, igniting sparks of what seemed like endless musical making possibilities. He learned the guitar and he learned to record. He dabbled in drums and stabbed at synthesizers. He learned to manipulate sound and coerce the notes into nothing more than mediocre melodies and noise. Another art form tried, but he still was unsatisfied. Music was now thrown to the side as it felt meaningless and lacked substance. The absence of sound created an echoey pit inside his head that made the neuro gnats seem louder than ever. Times had changed though and a new art form was on the rise…digital art. In another attempt to quench the thirst of the cerebral centipedes that slunk around that cavernous dry gulch that was his parched brain, Jake tried out the new and exciting possibilities of digital art. He began creating vibrantly saturated, hypno-chromatic digital imagery! Unwilling to go to art school due to excessive laziness and the inability to apply himself academically, Jake attempted a potential future for himself through social media. The rise of social media enticed Jake and visions of being recognized by millions of online users was very attractive, but soon it turned toxic. Jake started to create digital artwork with the hopes that thousands would eventually follow his profile and when it didn’t pan out, he became more and more disillusioned. He began making art for all the wrong reasons, suckling and savoring every little comment or like on each and every post he made. After hundreds of pieces and unfruitful results, Jake retired from the art world. His retirement came just in time for the uprising of A.I. art. Jake believes that A.I. is the world's new artist and often uses it as an excuse as to why he gave up art altogether. However, he is confident that after the A.I. renaissance, we [humans] will once again take back art and people will yearn for and seek out traditional, human crafted art.

In the meantime, if you would like to purchase a print of one of the images you see here, you can email Jake at jakewillisart@gmail.com to discuss pricing and size options. He is also willing to haggle.
